Hanover World

We had meeting here at White Lodge this morning and an interesting topic arose about who keeps the communtiy rooms clean (ie, hoovering up after a function).....until now the residents always assumed that the general cleaning and hoovering would be done by the twice weekly cleaner....but now it seems there have been complaints followed by suggestions that whoever puts on a function must do the hoovering after the event.....how do other Hanover sites manage????

Hi Arthur - In Henley, anyone using the communal lounge for anything that causes undue mess would be expected to clean it up themselves or make arrangements for it to be done. Our cleaner, (once a week), does all the public areas and the guest room.
If I have family to stay in the guest room I always give it the'once over' to make sure it's A1 before my guests arrive and I clean the bathroom and whizz round the hoover when they leave. I have never asked but I'm sure most people do the same - though I have found some fluff and sweet wrappers under the beds when I've moved them. I am not the fussiest person in the world but I think it's common courtesy to leave things as, or better than, you find them.

Having said all that, I can't imagine that you have wild parties that wreck the joint or even leave it in much more than a well used state. Perhaps an extra few quid to the cleaner, if there is more work to do than usual, would resolve the problem?? If it's an in-house doo, like Bingo or a musical evening, you could put a tin on the side for everyone to put in at least 50p and give it to the cleaner as a mark of your appreciation.

Just a thought.

Best wishes

Marg
