Depending on what context it is applied to, my interpretation would be 'Application'

Hi Valerie - I think of them as "add ons" you can have them on your mobile phone as well as on your computer and they are sort of accessories that you can tack on to help your phone/pc to do little extras, which don't come as standard. A typical example is the smiley face selection.

Hi Val, apps is short for 'applications' they are additional programmes that allow you to do a wide variety of things, for example work on documents with other Hanoverworld members, create cartoon characters of yourself to poke other members with (sounds strange, I know), play Suduko and many many more. I'm wondering if you would like to trial some of these applications with me, as I am not that au fait with them and I think we need a group of guinea pigs to try them out, and if we think they are good we can inform other members how to use them.

Margaret has probably explained better than me what they are, but if any of you would like to be guinea pigs, along with myself, we could perhaps test one application a week and inform other members whether it is any good and the extent of its features. I'll create a group, called Application Guinea Pigs'. Just sign up if you are interested.
