SCAM*****SCAM********EUROMILLION LOTTERY INTERNATIONAL ******SCAM*****SCAM******

Just received letter from them. I have won £120k, great, all I have to do is complete a form with my personal details and bank account details and they will arrange payment to me. They don't want any money off me, must be real then!!!!!

On my way to buy my new Bentley Continental GT, NOT.

Guess what, this SCAM SCAM has been on the go for quite a while now in different guises, both as a letter and as an email.

Don't respond in any way to an email, DELETE it, otherwise you will be bombarded with emails.

May be worth reminding other residents who do not have computer access about this type of letter scam. Pop a notice on a notice board??

Be careful out there people, remember, if it seems to good to be true it probably is.

Hi Bill,
So now they've moved from the Irish Lottery to the Euro Lottery, wouldn't mind a tenner for everyone i've received over the last year.

Cheers

Some people are still naive enough to believe that luck plays a major part in success and, unfortunately for them, they are the ones who these scam artists prey on. Most of us who have reached 60+ have seen some of the less pleasant aspects of life and are more wary - but thanks to Bill for the timely warning.

These scams will be more common as the recession bites. Should it surprise us that some human beings will stoop to anything to make money? Or, that there are those, who think they can get something for nothing, and send off their bank details?

If you really want something in this life, you have to work for it. Now, quiet! They're about to announce the lottery numbers...

Well Bill, if you can trust me, I can put you in touch with a firm in Nigeria, that has £10 million on offer to the first person that contacts them. Why do I offer this to you first?...totally unselfishness on my part!!

There has been a big awareness campaign recently, alerting people to these sorts of scams. It's a good idea to send them to your local trading standards department, which is usually part of your local council, they will try too investigate the companies sending then and will stop them if possible, or alert other people to them, so they don't get caught. You can find out the contact details of your local trading standards using this link.

I always find the emails that warn you of various dangers such as those of people lurking in car parks to kidnap you particularly irritating as well. A quick check through a website such as snopes http://www.snopes.com/ will soon identify which emails are scams, hoaxes or urban legends.

If ever you are in doubt about the validity of something, you can usually guarantee that snopes will have a feature on whether it is authentic or not! :)

Good Morning Bill , i was contacted by phone fell for the first bit of bait which left me twenty four pounds poorer BUT after winning ten euros two lots of five in consecutive draws managed to access webpage and to my utter amazement there was nothing in my account . I have now wiped off anything to do with these people. It seems there are people out to rip you of in all sorts of ways i tried to get a short story published by what seemed to be a reputeable company apparently based in the USA who do all their correspondance by E-Mail BUT you have have a nice indian special adviser who never seems to be in his office when you ring but he will ring you to explain how great it will be after you have paid SEVEN HUNDRED POUNDS and waited FOUR MONTHS your book will then be printed and the money will pour into your bank account.
