Telephone call Insurance scam.
Folks please be aware of the following scam being tried on the telephone. It goes like this:-
You get a telephone call from a very friendly man who knows your name and address.
He then uses your first name and says "Hello (your first name), this is Dave phoning from your insurance company to remind you that your home contents insurance expires at the end of the month.. We have a special on line renewal rate of £.. which is being offered because we value your custom. Just give me your credit card details.We will debit your account, and will forward the documents to you and your policy will continue, saving you a lot of unnecessary bother".
If you are not on the ball and get flustered wondering when in fact the policy does expire, you are likely to give him your details and thank him for the call. The next call you get is from your bank manager saying your account has been cleared out!!!
So switch on and dont get switched off!!.

Roy it is so easy to falter so if people keep reading - Don't give your details to cold callers - It will register eventually and can I add never use your debit card. --- Hank

This is what you should do and say..
" sure hold on while I look for my credit card". then make some coffee, brush your teeth, go to the toilet, make breakfast, all the while checking the phone occasionally and telling him to hold on as you cannot find your wallet.

OK I use a similar tack - I say " Hold on I'm just cooking the dinner - I will come back as soon as I can - or I say
"Ring me on my type talk number, I give them the prefix but they never ring me !!! David so many people do not react like us and that is the problem - hold on I have a potato in the microwave and some vegetables heading for the stir fry I will be back--- Hank.

I heard there is over $500 million a year 'stolen' from people in America through the Nigerian scam alone. There are certainly a lot of gullible people around and they need protecting...AND educating
