Very interesting group. Only just moved in to Hanover so I obviously can't make any comment about their suites, However, my wife and I stayed in two of Peverel/M&S's, one in Birmingham and one in Hull. Both the same lay-out as I imagine Hanover's are, twin-beds, en-suite etc. We think the idea is excellent. It not only gives residents a useful 'perk', but also provides developments with a bit of extra income. We are very pleasantly surprised at the no. of Hanover guest-suits available and look forward to trying some of them out.

Margaret

Just sent five vids off to you....they are a bit rough and ready but in the main they will give anyone an overall view of the Hanover sites and surrounding areas.....the vids include other bits that friends wanted me to add...stuff like the new QE bridge over the Thames and Butser Hill...I couldn't be arsed to edit each and every vid so you will have to tell people to ignore the bits they don't want......in the one of Penzance I have added a couple of shots of the externals of the Barn Club......they have a tarmac car park now!!!!

Regards, Arthur

Wow! Thanks Arthur that's absolutely brilliant - really useful tips for anyone feeling adventurous enough to try another site. Good advice about communicating with the local residents, too - judging by our own EM I think that guests would be positively received on most sites, and your experience proves it. Sounds like you are always careful not to make a nuisance of yourself though, Arthur, you go well equipped and don't tread on any toes when you get there. We'll all do well to copy you, I think.

A few hot tips for anyone using the guest flats...

Take an extension lead with four outlets, most of the flats sockets are in awkward places

Take a small kettle in case the flat doesn't have one, and anyhow, it will save you having to go to the kitchen in your nightshirt and bedsocks in the morning

Take some cereal bars, they wil keep you going until you go out to a cafe

Take some pot noodles, or similar, handy for a late night snack

Take a small radio or DVD player, life can get lonely in a guest flat

I always carry a small sleeping bag with me in case there is no bedding, but as yet I have never had to use the sleeping bag

First day of your visit, go to the library where you can get very good free maps of cycle and walk routes

To date I have visited ten Hanover sites and have always been made most welcome, I take great care to respect the residnets and thier surroundings and so far it has paid dividends in the fact I am always most welcome for a second visit.

Remember that these flats are cheap, very cheap, but secure accommodations, I have never known a site manager not to do thier very best for you, but don't expect the ritz for the sort of money you pay,

Drink plenty of beer and have fun!!!!

Thanks Anne for your contribution on Frimley Green guest room, it sounds comfortable and the use of kitchen is a great feature for us self sufficient visitors.
Best wishes

Hi Bobbie - thanks for posting the information about Cromer. I hope you don't mind but I have added it as a discussion as this makes it easier for people to look up the comments on a place they may wish to visit. Sounds like a nice place to stay I may book a visit as I have never explored the east coast. Thanks again for your contribution. Marg

Thanks daf for your comment - have put it under the Penzance heading to make it easier for people to track, hope you don't mind. Your remarks are very helpful, especially about the guest room being booked a lot. What is the charge per night?
