Hi Arthur, just to let you know we have forwarded your message regarding problems viewing videos to our IS department to see if they can help. However, with my limited technical knowledge..... it could be due to your connection speed at the time of trying to view (it may have decreased for some reason) I can see my connection speed by moving my cursur over the monitor icon in the bottom left of the screen, however it may be different on your system. By the way, neither myself or the IS department seems to have received the disc you sent with the video you struggling to upload before, are you able to tell me which office or address you sent it to, so I can try to locate it. Best wishes Ruth

Good morning Arthur, have you heard this one?
Two cannibals, father and son were elected by the tribe to go out and get something to eat. They walked deep in to the jungle and waited by a path. Before long along came a little old man. The son said ''ooh Dad theres one''.No said the father there's not enough meat on that one even to feed the dogs. We'll just have to wait.
A while later along comes a really fat man.''Hey Dad he's plenty big enough.''
''No said the father we'd all die of a heart attack from the fat. Well just have to wait'' About an hour later a gorgeous woman walked by. ''Theres nothing wrong with that one dad lets eat her.''No said the father we'll not eat her either''
Why not said the son.''because we'll take her home and eat you mother!

I am a volunteer at the Penlee House Gallery and Museum, and am currently researching the names and stories of people we can identify as models for the Newlyn School of artists. I came across your chat on this site via a Google search, and Ruth Arnott has kindly let me join the group so that I may contact you.

I am trying to find out more about Mary Wearne, whom I believe to have modelled on occasions for the artist Edwin Harris (and possibly for a number of others as well). I noticed your conversation with a fellow member about your aunt and mother who you believe modelled for Stanhope Forbes.

I can confirm that Cressida Wearne (your aunt?) was indeed the "Girl on a Cliff". The painting dates from 1926, but is not by Forbes; the artist is Harold Harvey, who was a local Penzance man. At the time it was painted, Cressida was 14, and posed for the artist sitting on a dustbin in his studio. The rock and background cliff scene were painted in at a later date.

The print you have of "The Blue Lady", however, is rather earlier and very unlikely to show your mother. This picture was painted in 1891 by Henry Meynell Rheam. It may possibly, however, depict a more distant relation - your grandmother, or a great aunt?

If you have any information about Mary Wearne or any other members of the Wearne family who modelled for any of the Newlyn School, I would be delighted to hear from you. I would be happy to give you my private email address if you prefer to get in touch outside this site.
