About Me:
Like meeting people from different backgrounds love my dancing and also like a variety of music. Would like to be in touch with like minded people. I am a member of a local U3A group but because of my busy schedule have not found the time to interact. I am usually busy arranging trips out be it either day trips or theatre for a few of my friends at the Leisure Centre. I have lots of things in the pipeline at the moment. I have met quite a few people on different sites and become friends we keep in touch on site. There is a group of ladies that meet for coffee and a chat after our aqua-aerobics class on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday we normally try to put the world to rights, we usually come away feeling better for our natter. One of my favourite haunts to meet up is at a Costa coffee shop.
If you could invite three people for dinner, no matter what time period who would they be?
Cary Grant, Ryan Styles and Anton du Becke
Favourite quote
Always look on the bright side of life.

A Night to Remember

Just got back from a boat trip and simply had to let everyone know what a fabulous time my friends and I had. We caught the bus with our free passes and travelled to Falmouth took about one and a half hours. There was 6 ladies and when we got to Falmouth we had lunch and then a trip around the shops until it was time to go down to the Quay for the boat which left at 5pm. We set off in lovely sunshine which stayed with us all the time. We had 4 hours sailing and because it was high tide we were a… Continue

Thank you for the Music - Abba

Went to see Abba Mania at the Hall for Cornwall on Friday and what a good night lively and friendly. It was a full auditorium with people of all ages from young children to older adults who all stood up clapped, danced and sung nearly all evening . I thought I could not enjoy the Abba songs more than Friday but along came Saturday when I went to a local Church who set up a screen and showed Mama Mia with the song words shown on screen. The evening started with each person taking a plate of food… Continue

Hot Flush

To all the ladies on site if you ever get the chance to see 'Hot Flush' do go and see it. I went to the Hall for Cornwall last night to see this musical comedy with Lesley Joseph and Sam Kane as the main stars plus another three ladies. Most of the audience were ladies as it had a lot to do with the menopause and how these ladies coped with it, and it was absolutely brilliant quite rude at times but very funny. Sam Kane played a brilliant part or should I say all the male parts as he was the onl… Continue

Just a little bit of nonsense.

A little girl asked her mother, 'Can I go outside and play with the boys?' Her mother replied, 'No, you can't play with the boys, they're too rough.' The little girl thought about it for a few moments and asked. If I can find a smooth one, can I play witth him?'

Out of the mouths of babes

A small boy is sent to bed by his father. Five minutes later...'Da-ad..."What?" 'I'm thirsty. Can you bring a drink of water?' 'No, You had your chance. Lights out. Five minutes later: Da-aaaad.... "WHAT?" 'I'm THIRSTY. Can I have a drink of water??' 'I told you NO! If you ask again, I'll have to smack you!!' Five minutes later.....'Daaaa-aaaad....'WHAT!' 'When you come in to smack me, can you bring a drink of water!!'

Hi There DD
We experienced the same problem when we played bowls a long time age, far to serious. We are just play Carpet bowls on a friday in our Residents Lounge (just for fun). As regards Dancing my wife (Betty) is in a wheel chair so its difficult to do that, so we try to do things we can do together.

Hope your keeping well and who knows perhats we'll meet some time
Regards
Trevor

hello daf, thats great your son is a station manager in the fire service, i loved every minute of it, just a super career. apart from being a mum, which is one of the most underrated of things to do in life, and not enough credit is given to mums with what they to do in bringing up a family. what did do as a job, in between being a mum. regards rod

Yes but you are an honorary Corn by now, aren't you? I have ventured to put a pasty recipe on the group - please tell me if you have a good hint to improve my efforts. I know puff pastry is not trad but I find the short pastry much too dry - and providing you get a bit of the puffiness out of the pastry - it seems to work okay. Let us have a really typical Yorkshire recipe. What is the specialty in the Dales? There must be a local equivalent of something like a scone or an Eccles cake? Do you say "skonn" like me or "skone" to rhyme with stone? Different parts of the country say it differently don't they? Or am I common?!!??

I am looking forward to the Forum, hadn't realised you are the rep for Pz, anyway, good luck with yours on Wed.

Best,

Marg

Hi Daf - You are a busy bee - I love your generosity, you always seem to have time for others and never stint on pouring your energy into outings etc. I must try to follow your example!

I am off to observe a Residents' Forum on Thursday with our rep, Mike Foster-Turner - I am trying to get to grips with how Hanover is organised and which bits connect to which. It appears to me that a lot of residents have difficulty picking their way through the various channels of communication and often end up frustrated as the process is not necessarily facilitated by every EM. Hopefully we can get a transparent procedure approved to make it easier for everyone. I know some EMs find it difficult themselves to effectively support their residents - who can sometimes be quite demanding. I wouldn't want the job!

Do you have a good recipe or tip for my new Group?? I am tempted to put a pasty recipe on there but I fear I would be shot down in flames. Do you have one for hevva (heavy) cake? I do not know how to make it but I love it with a 'cuppa'. Any tips would be appreciated too.

Best wishes
Marg
